Gold rush Wales
Here are some of the best places to pan for gold in Wales.
Parys Mountain, Anglesey
The mountain has been mined for copper ore since the early Bronze Age, and is one of the few sites in Britain where there is evidence for the prehistoric beginnings of the British metal mining industry. As well as copper, gold has been discovered nearby too.

Dolgellau, Snowdonia
The town was the centre of a minor gold rush in the 19th century. At one time the local gold mines employed over 500 workers. Clogau St. David’s mine in Bontddu and Gwynfynydd mine in Ganllwyd have also supplied the gold for many royal weddings.

Dollacothi, Pumpsaint
The area is well known for the Ogofau Gold Mine, but the area has been mined for gold since the Roman times. The River Cothi, near Pumsaint, Carmarthenshire carries a fair amount of gold to be found.

Llanfyrnach, Pembrokeshire
The Gold here is well hidden in small pockets, but reports from the 1800’s suggest there is much to be had, you just need to find it.
