Charmouth and Broad Ledge, Lyme Regis, Dorset
Charmouth overlooks Lyme Bay and is part of the famous Jurassic Coast. It was once even visited by novelist Jane Austen. The beach is great for looking for fossils and sealife and much of the area is controlled by the National Trust.
The local Charmouth heritage coast centre also organises rockpool rambles and fossil hunting walks during the summer. Set off from Broad Ledge in Lyme Regis, and head along the coast’s flat rock ledges when the tide is out.
