Hope Gap, East Sussex
Just round the corner from the famous Seven Sisters, Hope Gap is a classic English shore line with the impressive white cliffs behind you, and the English Channel in front. The beach is world famous for fossils, but amongst the debris of rocks on the shoreline there are crabs, winkles and all sorts to be found. On the cliffs behind, you may be lucky to discover wild samphire too. The small river to the west of the beach is a good place to look for flat fish.
Blakeney Quay in Norfolk
A beautiful estuary and river mouth, the area is famous for its crabbing. And daring rescues by the near-by Cromer life boats. The quayside offers a great opportunity to drop your crablines into the water, where there is an abundance of crabs. Watch out for seagulls though, they will take your bait and your crabs quicker than you know it.
